Pounds of guns and drugs found in Poplar Bluff house after two-month investigation
Four children were removed from the home on Wednesday, December 13, after a search warrant was executed at 1828 South 11th Street in Poplar Bluff resulting in the arrest of two adults and seizure of large quantities of drugs.
During execution of the warrant, investigators seized approximately three-quarters of a pound of suspected “ICE” methamphetamine, approximately one pound of high grade marijuana and a Rossi .357 handgun and with ammunition. Smaller quantities of suspected ecstasy and LSD were also seized. Four minor children of the residence were placed into the custody of the Division of Family Services.
Lee Hamilton, 36, of Poplar Bluff and Astasia Phelps, 29, of Poplar Bluff, were arrested and lodged at the Butler County Justice Center. Hamilton is being held on a $500,000.00 cash-only bond on suspicion of the charges of Trafficking Drugs in the 2nd Degree, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree.
The warrant was the result of a two month narcotics investigation conducted by the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force, Poplar Bluff Police Department, and Butler County Sheriff’s Department.
This investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
