There are always tons of things to do in the SEMO area—so many things that at times it can be hard to keep track of what’s going on. So, every Friday SEMO Live will sort through all the activities and list the top three things to do this weekend.
Here are this weekend’s top three:
Where: John J. Pershing VA Medical Center
When: Saturday, June 23
Time: 8 a.m.
This 5k run/1 mile walk or roll for individuals in wheelchairs will benefit the Veterans Care and Share program, which provides Christmas baskets and food baskets to needy veterans during the holiday season. The event registration begins at 7 a.m. at Pershing VA Medical Center, and a $12 donation is required to participate. The first 50 participants will get a free Tshirt. This event is expected to run until 9:30 a.m. For more information, contact Kevin at 573-778-4276.
Where: Indian Hills Winery
When: Saturday, June 23
Time: 3 p.m.
Local rising star Rebekah Northern will be performing at Indian Hills Winery this Saturday. The high school singer-songwriter will be performing original songs. Read the SEMO Times review of her debut CD here and an interview with the performer here.
Where: Hastings Music
When: Saturday, June 23
Time: 8 p.m.
Hastings Music will be hosting a free concert in their parking lot this weekend and the local punk band Disgruntled Bastards will be performing with special guest Otherwise Empty. Disgruntled Bastards will have their CDs on sale and Otherwise Empty will be handing out flyers and copies of their acoustic demo CD after the performance. This is a great chance to catch these guys on their way to the top.
