On Jan. 8, an early morning house fire took the lives of two Poplar Bluff teenagers, Dylane Campbell, 12, and 16-year-old Kyle Dicken.

A cash donation account has been set up at Southern Bank in the name of Becky Cox. In addition, there will be three fundraisers for the family this weekend. All of the money raised will be presented to Cox and J.C. Dickens on Sunday.

“I am so proud of Poplar Bluff for coming together and helping this family,” said Sarah McCullem, one of the organizers of the fundraisers. “I am overwhelmed with our love for one another. It’s just amazing.”

On Friday, River Radio will host a live radio event from 7–9 a.m. with on-air personality Britney McKay, Rep. Todd Richardson and the Missouri Fire Fighters Association. The radio event will raise awareness of fire safety. Cash donations for Cox and Dickens will be accepted during that time as well. River Radio is located at 1015 W. Pine Street.

The second event, a scramble golf tournament, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. The course will be 18 holes, and there will be prizes for first, second and third place. The entry fee will be $50 per person, with teams of up to four people allowed. Teams may sign up the day of the event.

The final fundraiser is on Sunday. The event will be at Chas’ Bar and Grill and will begin at 10 a.m. and last all day long. There will be a chili supper, a pool tournament, a dart tournament and live music. Bands performing include Cynderblok, Frequency and Black River Blues.

There will also be an auction of several large and smaller ticket items to benefit the family. All of the auction items were donated from local businesses in Poplar Bluff. Chas’ is located at 2350 Cheshire Blvd.

“We knew something needed to be done and immediately, the morning it happened, we sprung into action,” McCullem said.

To donate to the family, visit any of the four Southern Bank locations in Poplar Bluff.
